Solo puedo decir... WOW !!!

And it’s marked for regions A and B, which means it will play in your North American player. Special features like featurettes, if in PAL (old-school Standard Def) may not play through some machines (like the PS3) but an import edition might just be the best we North Americans are going to do for a little while. Los extras en HD obviamente no va a ver problema para visualizarlos.
- Deleted Scenes (HD) - new to the UK
- Trailer (HD)

Extras Review

- Audio Commentary: Russell Mulcahy is own his own for this one and for a man who directed Duran Duran larking about on a boat in the Caribbean, he's rather dry. And not as mad as one who dragged Highlander II to the screen. There's much that Russell passes over in his commentary for this film, it being that age or the passing years has dimmed his memory of events but he seems to pick himself up and dust his mind off from the more important events even if his typical comment isn't some way off, "Scotland...lovely country!" And remarking on just how handsome Christopher Lambert was, which is true, but he's a whole hunk of man let down by an utter inability to act.

- Documentary (85m11s): There is a documentary that does a much better job of describing the making of Highlander, which begins, as it ought to, with the writing of the script and carries on to its eventual release. What's particularly good about the opening part of this feature is how it gently taps the memories of writers Gregory Widen (who scripted a more serious film) and Peter Bellwood (who did not) and how it places one in conflict with the other, one saying that they wanted the characters of Macleod and the Kurgan to be torn by their very long lives whilst the other strived for more laughs. But this is only the first part of the documentary, which carries on with DoP Gerry Fisher and Set Decorator Allan Cameron discussing the visual style of the film and, in the third part, Roxanne Hart on her character in the film and the experiences of being a woman in a film dominated by three men (Connery, Lambert and Brown).

Highlander Documentary – divided in three chapters (“A Legend is Born”, “The Visual Style”, and “A Strong Woman”)

A Legend is Born (29:11 SD): The first part of the Highlander documentary includes interviews with scriptwriter Gregory Widen and co-scriptwriter Peter Bellwood as they discuss the genesis of the film and its subsequent popularity. Widen talks about his disappointment with some of the changes made to his original vision, while Bellwood talks about director Mulcahy’s involvement and the critical response to the film.

The Visual Style (40:01 SD): The second part of the documentary focuses on the visual aspects of the film and includes interview footage with DP Gerry Fisher and set decorator Allan Cameron. They both discuss how they got involved with the project, their early meetings with Russell Mulcahy, some of the tricks used to get specific shots, some of the locations used and more.

A Strong Women (15:53 SD): The third part of the documentary is an interview with Roxanne Hart, in which she talks about her first impressions of the script, how she got the part, her character’s place in a male-dominated film, her past experiences in film, Mulcahy’s shooting style and more.

- Christopher Lambert Interview (8m32s): Hmmm...he is still a very handsome man, albeit one with a liking for purple sunglasses, which is just so wrong. Speaking in French and with English subtitles, Lambert talks a little about the making of Highlander but he is most animated as regards his favourite moments from the film, working with Sean Connery and how, "There can be only one!" is what people would remember. Yeah, he was right about that.

- Deleted Scenes (06:14 HD): The deleted scenes aren’t really deleted scenes, but more of an assembly of scene extensions and alternate takes discovered during the restoration process. There is no audio, so the scenes are set to music from the film, and they shift between colour and black and white throughout. I’m not really familiar enough with the film to say if there’s anything particularly juicy here, but they do add curiosity value if nothing else.

- Trailer (02:31 HD): The film's theatrical trailer is presented in high-definition. It’s pleasantly eighties in its unsophisticated approach to selling the story, but that's about it.

Notes

- Only the European cut of the film is present on this disc.
"Director's Cut" (116 m) | "European Director's Cut" (116 m)

The U.S Director's Cut and the European Director's cut differs some in dialog. Example: When Connor falls from the boat and end up on the sea floor, the U.S version dialog says: "I'm alive" European version says: "I'm alive...I can breath..." Shortly followed by; "I'll split you in half!" (spoken in the same moment as Connor draws his sword under water)

U.S director's cut
The chants "Kill the MacLeod!" are removed at the beginning of the film compared to the original U.S. release.
The wires that are seen pulling Connor MacLeod up when he receives the Prize are removed compared to the original U.S. release and European cut.
Has whooshing sound effects added before the MacLeod vs Fazil and the Ramirez vs Kurgan fights to indicate that one immortal has detected the presence of another, where as the European cut and U.S theatrical do not.

Complete Director's Cut is available on video in the US, featuring all footage from the European version and still photos from unused footage at the end. This includes scenes of a fight between the Kurgan and an unreferenced Immortal, Yung Dol Kim, a security guard in an office building who fights the Kurgan. Ultimately, he surrenders wearying of Immortal life and willing to suicide himself. The Kurgan takes his head and the body explodes out of the 40th story of the building. Kim fights Japanese two-sword style. Additional unused footage features a flashback where Connor meets with Thomas Jefferson, as well as a bar scene when Connor and Kastagir go out for a drink, and meet Det. Walter Bedsoe.

European cut
"Kill the MacLeod!" chanting dialogue in the flash back Connor has at the beginning of film, where as the Directors cut does not.
Has a scene between Connor and Brenda talking at a zoo about how he's not willing to commit to another relationship after his wife's death. The most important thing about this scene is that Kurgan can be seen in the background trailing the twosome. This solves the continuity problem in the American version about how Kurgen finds Brenda's apartment in the next scene.

The European version and later US Director's Cut does not contain a short scene shot from inside Det. Bedsoe's car as he stakes out Brenda's apartment during MacLeod's visit.

- Even though the disc has been marketed as Region-B, it is in fact Region A/B. Therefore, you will be able to play it on your North American PS3 or SA without a problem. You could also set up the main menu in one of the following languages: English, Portuguese, Danish, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Norwegian, Finnish, or Swedish).
