Raro USA's single-layer, progressive transfer is more than a 16:9 upgrade. It improves on the color, contrast, and framing over the Raro Italy DVD. The opening text suggests that Raro USA has augmented the English cut with scenes from the longer Italian cut, but this is not true. It is the longer Italian version, not a composite cut. The audio is a composite work, however, and the Italian-only scenes have English subtitles (as they did on the import). Regrettably, Raro USA has dropped the Italian track which features a piano score by Franco Mannino (who scored Visconti's last two films and conducted the classical music selections for his DEATH IN VENICE and LUDWIG) which features original compositions by Mannino as well as performances of Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" and "Well Tempered Clavier" as well as Liszt's "Liebestraum." The English track features an intrusive keyboard score in place of the original Mannino piano pieces (the Bach and Liszt cues remain) and is heard over scenes that play without scoring on the Italian track. The only extra on the disc is a subtitled interview with make-up and visual effects artist Sergio Stivaletti, who worked uncredited along side Angelo Mattei on the gore effects. A liner notes booklet is also included.

Mimic
From acclaimed director Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy) comes "a terrifying film of great elegance" (San Francisco Chronicle). Starring Academy Award© winner Mira Sorvino (Mighty Aphrodite) and screen favorites Charles S. Dutton (A Time To Kill) and Josh Brolin (True Grit), this electrifying thriller brings the epic battle between man and nature to life when a team of scientists discover that their experiement in genetic engineering has gone horribly awry.
Mimic 2
Four years ago, a cockroach-spread plague threatened to decimate the child population of New York City. Then, research biologists developed a species of "Judas" bugs engineered to "mimic" and overrun the diseased roaches in their grubby habitat. The plan worked until the creatures evolved to mimic their next prey...humans! They were all thought to be dead, but the mutated cockroaches have now undergone another unimaginable metamorphosis and are once again threatening to take over! Bursting with amazing special effects and loaded with unstoppable excitement -- you'll thrill to every moment of this pulse-pounding crowd pleaser!
Mimic 3: Sentinel
The third and the scariest entry in the unstoppably suspenseful and terrifying Mimic legacy! When residents of his apartment building begin to disappear, Marvin comes to believe the unthinkable: the mutant breed of giant carnivorous insects that once plagued society are back and beginning to revisit their devastation! Though he's confined to his room due to a severe illness, Marvin must rally whatever support he can in order to exterminate these horrifying creatures before he ends up their next victim! Filled with action and incredibly eye- popping special effects, this terror-filled thriller is a must-see for all fans of intense big-screen excitement!
